COVID-19 Update and Reminders

Last week it was announced that a Douglas County resident was the first in Nebraska to test positive for COVID-19. Over the past week there have been additional cases confirmed in Douglas and Knox County Nebraska. Even with these additional cases there currently is no confirmed community spread of the virus at this time. State and local health departments are continuing to conduct disease surveillance to monitor for community spread.

Our staff have been working diligently with our local and state partners to not only understand this new virus but also educate our residents on best health practices to control spread of this virus.

We are here to answer any questions you may have about COVID-19, and to support our businesses and schools with planning considerations for COVID-19.  You can reach us at 402-339-4334.

As a reminder, the most effective ways to keep yourself healthy from respiratory illnesses is to stay home when you are sick, cover your cough, and wash your hands before touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

If you have had international travel in the past 14 days, particularly to China, Italy, Iran, and South Korea, or domestic travel to areas in the U.S. with widespread community transmission, please consider completing this brief survey.  Results of the survey are confidential and will greatly assist the health department with our investigations.
